Man City rule out swap deal involving Frenkie de Jong and Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva has been linked in recent weeks as a possible reinforcement for Barcelona this summer, but they will not be able to sign him through a swap deal with Frenkie de Jong. In addition, Pep Guardiola will only listen to offers of least 80 million euros for the Portuguese.

The fact Barcelona have had extra funding approved by selling part of their TV rights and BLM, means they can spend more freely in the transfer window ahead of the 2022-23 season.

On players leaving, the main player to be mentioned is Frenkie de Jong for him Man Utd are willing to pay 80 million euros although those from the Catalan capital are demanding at least 86 million euros guaranteed.

While Barca are working on the possible departure of the Dutchman, in recent weeks, Bernardo Silva was strongly linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

There was even speculation over a swap deal involving the Portuguese and the Dutchman, but ‘RAC1’ reported on Tuesday night that the City have ruled out this possibility and that the Portuguese will only leave the Etihad if a large amount of money is paid.

The cited media outlet says that Barcelona will have to pay around 80 million euros if they want the player whose contract expires in 2025. His market value is around 90 million.

At the moment, Man City have not received an offer from Barca, but Joan Laporta and company now know with certainty how much they should spend. As well as Bernardo Silva, another big signing Barca are hoping to make is that of Robert Lewandowski.
