Video: Qatar 0 – 4 Nigeria [U20 World Cup] Highlights 2019

Paul Aigbogun’s side put in a great attacking shift as the Flying Eagles brushed Qatar aside at Tychy Stadium

Nigeria kicked off their 2019 U20 World Cup campaign with a rampant 4-0 Group D win over a lackluster Qatar side in Tychy.

Maxwell Effiom and Okechukwu Offia struck first-half goals to open their international accounts at Tychy Stadium, with Tom Dele-Bashiru and Aliu Salawudeen adding two more goals to silence the Asians.

Effiom scored the opener after 12minutes, and it was the creativity and industry of Ikouwem Utin which picked apart Qatar’s tightly stitched seams.

Utin drove past his marker before unleashing a shot, which goalkeeper Shebab Mamdouh pushed into the path of Effiom, who volley flew into the net.

The presence of Muhamed Tijani and Valentine Ozornwafor vastly improved Nigeria’s link-up play following a below-par performance in their 2-1 friendly defeat to Saudi Arabia.

Captain Utin provided the assist for Offia to add a second goal which put the game well beyond Qatar.

Bruno Miguel’s though created chances of note, they failed to find the net as they gave away possession on several occasions.

In the second half, they were further outplayed as Manchester City’s Dele-Bashiru and Salawudeen’s completed the win.

Victory leaves Paul Aigbogun’s side on three points in Group D, of their crunch match against the United States on Monday.
